Climate

Marbella enjoys an unusually pleasant 'Microclimate' that attracted the Moores in the past and the modern day Saudi Royal family who maintain a complex of palaces in the town.

The Costa del Sol has the best all-year climate of main land Europe; Marbella has the best climate of the Costa del Sol

The Sierra Blanca rises to over 1200 meters to the northwest of Marbella a further mountain range behind that rising to 1400 meters. The winds from the land that often bring extremes of humidity and temperature in summer are diverted around Marbella down the Rio Verde and Rio Guadalmina valleys to the west and Rio Fuingerola to the West. Although summer temperatures can soar to 400C inland and along the adjacent coast they are usually several degrees cooler in Marbella.

Similarly being protected from winter winds by the mountains the prevailing wind means Marbella catches the North African Weather in the winter when temperatures are not unusually 15 - 19 0C. There is sun for 320 days of the year. There are many places that provide information but the local weather station is most helpful for detail.
